So my motto when doing a cake smash is this: less is more. When planning them, I always try to stress to the parents – simple. simple. simple. Most think, “But it’s a cake smash – a birthday session! Why do simple?” Well, I’ll tell you why. Props and “crazy” tends to take away from your child. I’m all for a theme and color, but something like what you see here is my jam. Sweet and simple. Little Leah was just adorable! She was a milestone baby of mine, so I had photographed her since birth. Isn’t she just precious? Like most one year olds, she loved the bubble bath! She was happy and content, and as you will see, sprawled right out with a look of “why are you still photographing me lady?!” What a fun age. The fresh flowers were from Sterling Gardens and Boutique in Neenah. The naked cake by, The Pastry Pixie – also in Neenah. And the beautiful floral halo by none other than Little Olive. She is an extremely talented vendor out of Poland, and is my absolute favorite for everything tiebacks! Now that I have a beautiful studio to work in, I am so excited to plan more cake smashes in 2017!! <3 <3
